Captain Erik Olsen set out on West Star's final voyage on Sunday, October 25, sailing from Gdańsk to England with a cargo of wood. A distress signal was sent at night due to increasing tilt due to the raging storm. After many hours of effort, the ship sank in the morning, and the captain was the last to leave the ship with a 7-person crew. The ship was 62 meters long and 10 meters wide. It lies about 200 meters from the shoreline, at a depth of 2.5 meters, and two loading masts protrude from the water, visible from the wild Ulinia Beach.
